When Kala is bullied on the playground about her curls, she begins to hate her hair.
But the little Red Bird encourages Kala to love the Princess she sees in the mirror with all those beautiful curls.
“I love the Princess…she looks like me.”
Zhavia, Four Years Old in Pre-School
“I love this book! I also was bullied at school… It is not good when you are bullied. I also like the Princess getting married to the Prince.”
Aria, Eight Years Old in Third-Grade
“Well written and beautiful story of self-love. Unfortunately, bullying is an issue and there are conversations to have about some of the important topics beautifully written in this book. Bullying and self-love and acceptance is the lesson as Kala struggles to embrace her uniqueness. Encouragement from a new friend, the little red bird, Kala overcomes her struggle and finds love but most importantly love for herself every time she looks in the mirror.”
E. Carter, 5-Star Amazon Review
“Super cute book! Precious storyline! Absolutely the best book ever!”
H. Davis, 5-Star Amazon Review
“This book is awesome! The story encourages the practice of believing in yourself. All children can benefit by knowing that all are unique and beautiful regardless of color, gender or race. It takes all to make this beautiful world. The pictures in the book also depict a world of color.”
B. Barnes, Retired Middle School Principal
“This book is a heart-warming and inspirational story for little princesses everywhere. We are encouraged as Kala grows to adulthood to celebrate our uniqueness. It is an enjoyable uplifting story to read.”

About the Authors
Dr. Nell R. London fell in love with writing while an undergrad at Agnes Scott College with majors in History, Sociology, and Anthropology. In 2007, she was recognized as ASC’s Outstanding Alumnae for Service to the Community for her Welfare-to-Work program that trained and transitioned over 400 mothers to employment. The Welfare-to-Work Initiative recognized the program as a “Best Practice.” As the founder and President of Project First Step Outreach, she assisted over 350 families with housing who were impacted by Hurricane Katrina and migrated to Georgia and Alabama. Nell founded God-Mother-to-Godchild, a mentoring program for at-risk young girls. She also designed and directed a Charm and Teens Modeling program for girls. Nell is the co-owner of Royal Collections Designs and Healthy Delight Cooking. This book was inspired by her co-author and granddaughter, Kaitlynn R. McCullough who was born with all those beautiful curls.
Kaitlynn R. McCullough graduated from the eighth grade as an honor student with a certificate in English and Chorus. While a Girl Scout, she led a donation drive to supply First Aid Kits to Playgrounds in her community and was honored by the Mayor and City Council members, and recognized on the local news. At nine years old, she was the team leader of a young Robotic group that built underwater robots. At eleven years old, Kaitlynn starred in The Lion King at a local Fine Arts Center and was on the news in Cocoa Beach talking about seaweed covering the beach.
